Urban Planning Solution, Architectural, and Atmospheric Qualities

The New Fire Station with Tennis Club presents itself as a building immersed in the landscape, capturing the unique topography of Hungerburg and naturally integrating into the slope.
The vehicle hall is shifted to the east to allow for vistas and create maximum open spaces on the west side of the site. All other functional spaces on the ground floor are accommodated within the low-rise structure.
The offset of the building volumes along the north-south axis and in elevation aims to differentiate the volume on the ground floor into two parts, thus assimilating the urban texture of Hungerburg.
Care has been taken to keep sightlines open in all directions and provide scenic views.
The design is dominated by a hillside landscape, composed of green areas, trees, vegetation, and the seating terraces of the tennis facility.
The buildings are envisioned in red-colored exposed concrete with core insulation, integrating both materially and color-wise into the landscape.

Landscaping
Efforts are made to minimize sealed surfaces and create an open green space. The buildings, immersed in the landscape, are surrounded by green and open areas from all sides.
The landscape in the southern area of the tennis courts is terraced as seating. Narrow vertical concrete elements structure and secure the lawn at seat level. Individual seating elements provide spaces for tennis club visitors and pedestrians to linger.
The hitting wall is slightly elevated from the landscape and easily accessible from the tennis club premises. New tree plantations offer shaded areas and enhance the location.
A terrace is created in front of the tennis club, partly covered. The landscape provides multiple pathways for various user groups and pedestrians, making the location an effective public green oasis.
In the north, the training ground and the forecourt of the fire station are arranged along Gramartstrasse.
